Shyamala Kiru

DMin, RP, RMFT

Clinic director

For nearly 20 years, I’ve been dedicated to helping individuals, couples and families live their best lives. Working from a family systems perspective, my practice includes narrative therapy, emotionally focused therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy. These models are some of the most effective in creating and sustaining long-term change. I will work with you to find the best method for you.

In addition to being the Clinical Director at Kiru Wellness Clinic, I am a mental health consultant, public speaker and media expert for sources such as Chatelaine, the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail. You can also find me on the panel of Discovery Channel’s National TV show, Canada’s Worst Driver. My background in fitness and nutrition lends to a holistic, energized approach to mental health.  With a style that is sensitive and down to earth, I work with people of all cultures and backgrounds with authenticity and passion.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Marriage and Family Therapist, and I’ve served on the Board of Directors for the Ontario Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. I hold a Masters in Counselling and a Doctorate in Marriage and Family.

I have a deep sense of passion and purpose as a therapist, and an even deeper sense of calling in my roles as wife and mother. My hope each day is to inspire my daughter and to laugh with my husband. I’d love to help you discover the best version of yourself.
