Cognitive Therapy Expertise
When helping you build confidence, we use a model of therapy called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). We have specialized training in CBT to help you manage anxiety and depression while building your confidence. CBT is the most empirically validated and research based model of therapy proven to help individuals reprogram their thinking patterns.
At the Kiru Wellness Clinic, we use CBT to reprogram your brain from anxious and overwhelmed to calm and confident.
What is CBT?
CBT is a type of therapy that allows us to identify how your thoughts affect your behaviours and emotions. Using CBT, we will help you identify and change the thought patterns that are getting you stuck. Through cognitive re-programming, we can help you create new, healthy patterns of thinking that will allow you build your confidence.
How long does CBT take?
CBT is often used to treat depression and anxiety. Often, the thoughts that drive depression and anxiety are long-standing patterns of thinking. Research shows that it takes 62 days of consistent re-programming to change your thinking patterns. You can expect to work with your CBT therapist weekly or bi-weekly for at least 2-3 months.

We have specialized training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the most empirically validated and researched modality to help relationships heal. Research shows that 70-75% of couples move from conflict and tension to love and connection, and approximately 90% show significant improvements overall in their relationships. The best part is, the results hold for the long-term!
At the Kiru Wellness Clinic we use EFT to take your relationship from disconnected and distressed to connected and secure.
What is EFT?
EFT is rooted in attachment theory, which proves our biological need for connection and bonding to another person. EFT helps couples have a new, more secure connection. EFT provides us with a roadmap to help couples step out of the unhealthy patterns in their relationship that cause disconnection and distress, and into a pattern of connection and intimacy. We will help you to connect more authentically and with more ease. Once you have a new pattern of connection in your relationship, you will be able to resolve future stressors and conflicts.
How long does EFT take?
In order for change to occur, both people need to be engaged in the process. Typically, couples experience a change between 10-20 sessions. Some couples require less time, while couples that have experienced complex trauma may require more sessions. Sessions are typically weekly or bi-weekly.
